Looks like it is really coming along. Can’t wait to see the drywall. I hope Melissa is covering everything up stairs. When you start sanding it will really become a mess. Make sure you change your furnace filter after the completion.

This is what I found at Circuit City today.

SONY 46″ 720P LCD Rear Projection HDTV $1099
Poloroid 42″ 1080P LCD HDTV $1199

It almost sound like that its a give or take on the pros or cons of either. Nancy and I have always liked SONY. With the basement completely dark with no sunlight wouldn’t the projection maybe be the best route to go?

Hi Joe,

Saw two movies in the last week: I Am Legend and No Country For Old Men. I had to see the first one as I’m a devoted fan of Richard Matheson and own and have read the book three times. That being said, I think the movie was very loosely based on the book and has more in common with the also loosely based 2nd take on the book, The Omega Man - not to mention 28 Days Later. Both the opening and closing scenes are right out of the predecessor movie and are not found in the book. Creepiest scene: the search for his dog in the underground garage and coming across a huddle of undead. Very weird. The zombie FX were a let-down though and unconvincing. On a 1 to 10 scale with 10 being tops, I’d give it a 6.

No Country For Old Men did not disappoint me as it’s the Coen Brothers, and they have never gone wrong as far as I’m concerned. I had concerns that the violence would be over-the-top and shock me, but though that didn’t happen, what *did* shock me was the final scenes. “Hollywood” 101 would have us, the audience, witness the two clashing characters with a final confrontation - but that did not happen. In fact the final confrontation was almost too subtle - so against the rules of cinema in decades past. Definitely a brave and challenging decision.

Next movie for me will be - of course - Cloverfield, despite only 73 minutes run time.

Cya,

Bill M.
